ake sure you are informed of your child’s school life. Most schools have a parent portal
that allows each parent to log onto and see their child’s progress in class and documents behavioral issues. If you and the other parent are not residing together, make sure you let the teacher know ahead of time that you want to be informed about all activities and issues with your child. Most teachers have an email or text string they will send out to parents. Let the school administration know that you want to be updated and make sure you sign up for all notifications from the school. Take your court orders to show that you are allowed to get this information and verify that the school has contact information for you and the other parent.
A new school year can be stressful for any child. Help ease your child’s anxiety and take pictures and send them to the other parent if they can’t be there for Drop Off or Meet The Teacher. Don’t shame the other parent if they can’t be there. If the other parent is taking the child to school on their first day encourage your child
