I enjoyed being able to celebrate my dad, but I also enjoyed getting to see my family and hangout with my grandpa before he passed. Ihavebeenveryluckytoalwaysbe able to spend this special day with my fam- ily. I am also lucky that I still get to spend Father’s Day with my dad and celebrate this day with my amazing husband who is a great father to our three children.
I was raised by a strong, loving and car- ing dad and married a man with the same traits. I believe that children benefit from being with both parents, whether they are living in one house or two. Children grow and learn from spending time with each parent. Some children don’t always get to spend this special day with their father, due to not living in the same city or being denied visitation. I am a big believer that parents should always work together for the best interest of the child.
Father’s Day weekend will always be Dad’s weekend in June in the majority of court orders. This year, Father’s Day falls on the 2nd weekend of June this year, mean- ing dad gets this weekend as well as the 1st and 3rd weekend if they don’t live together. This is a great opportunity for kids to spend more time with their dad. Moms can help by supporting and encouraging the extra time. If the child is little, help them make a card or present for their dad. Your child will remember how you helped them to do

something nice for the other parent. We also don’t want to forget the grandfather’s out there on both sides of the family. If pos- sible, let your child facetime or zoom with their grandfathers or help them make a card to mail to them.
