Johnson Student-Athlete of the Month FBy Alissa Reinhard Isabella Saenz
or Isabella Saenz, a sophomore at Johnson High School, golf is much more than just a sport.
“Golf pushes you to become a better person,” she described.
Isabella first picked up a golf club when she was just a toddler, following in the footsteps of her older sister, who is also a golfer. She has now been playing golf for 12 years.
“My older sister, Ariana, inspires me the most,” Isabella said. “She paved the path for
me.”Isabella has big goals, both academically and athletically. She hopes to make it to State, earn all As, and graduate with a high GPA.
“I would like to attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas, study Sport Management, and play collegiate golf there,” Isabella stated.
Isabella spends 3-4 hours on the golf course every day.
“My proudest accomplishment is playing in the Drive, Chip, and Putt Championship at Augusta National in 2017,” Isabella stated. Drive, Chip, and Putt provides aspiring junior golfers an opportunity to play with their peers in qualifiers around the country. Participants who advance through local, sub-regional and regional qualifying in each age/gender category earn a place in
