Well, meet mymother. Having six children, all very healthy, maybe not so wise, she never wavered from duties as a mother, nor a human being. From the time I was three years old, I remember the hobos from the railroad track that marked our home as a place they could get food. Being formally uneducated, she played classical music to feed our young minds and sewed amazing costumes we requested for any occasion. She often repeated and held onto the memory of being told she would be a great English teacher someday. When one brother got into trouble as a young teen, she never gave up on him, even for the twenty years he spent in prison. She is credited with the raising of many in our community, wherever that may be and whoever needed a helping hand, including a sister who raised her three children aided by none other than our mom, until they reached adulthood and left home. All too often one or another returned home with bruised feelings, yet always found a bed to sleep in and a warm cup of coffee in theBy Barbara Leemorning, hearing words of encouragement to try, try again. Setting her own pain aside to cheer each of us on, her words led me to become the English teacher of which she had always dreamed. Thank you, Mom, from each of us, in spirit and in life.Looking To Celebrate Your High School GradYou’re invitedJoin me for a special seasonal event. At UnitedHealthcare®, we have Medicare Advantage plans for many kinds of people, including people who also qualify for Medicaid.
